Join GPCOG and Clean Air Cool Planet at a Municipal Energy Committee Workshop!

Workshop Goal: Give citizen leaders practical, useful advice to start and sustain Municipal Energy Committees and take action on energy and climate change at the local level.  Provide a forum in which community members can connect and strategize.

Program: Having the tools to form and energy committee with a strong base is critical.  The goal of this workshop is to develop strong local energy committees that can act as advisory committees to the respective local officials.  This interactive discussion will cover:

 

  • Developing an inclusive mission statement
  • Recruiting diverse, productive members
  • Keys to strong interaction with the municipal staff and committees
  • Running a good meeting (include Right to Know)
  • Setting reasonable goals and managing expectations
  • Utilizing achievable (concise) projects to build and maintain momentum
  • Sustaining your members and encouraging attendance
  • How to begin to conduct an inventory
